Cathy Broida is the winner of the Hospice Caregiver Award presented by Horan & McConaty. Cathy was nominated by Jackie Hibbard from Halcyon Hospice.
Cathy Broida is an RN with Halcyon. She recently assisted one of our patients to apply to participate in the Honor Flight from Colorado to Washington DC. He was accepted and she accompanied him on the journey on September 13-14. This patient and his son, who also went along, had an amazing experience visiting the sites in Washington. The patient felt honored and never thought he’d experience anything like this in his life. Cathy went over and above her normal nursing duties to honor this man’s service to our country. She has a passion for working with veteran’s and does all she can to thank each one for their service and commitment to the United States. As Cathy shared her weekend experience with the team she was in tears describing the experience that she, the patient and the son had. She is a shining example of what it means to be a servant leader who goes beyond the job description to meet the patient’s needs. Cathy is also putting together an education session for the rest of our staff about the Honor Flight and how to help other veteran’s apply for this amazing experience.
